Diet
They are piscivorous in nature, but they will accept dead foods readily. Feed live/frozen foods along with dried foods.
Breeding
Substrate spawner. The female may lay up to 1000 eggs which hatch after 48 hours and become free swimming in 6-7 days. The parents protect the fry for up to 3-4 weeks after they become free swimming.
Compatibility
They are relatively peaceful with other species of fish, but are territorial especially when breeding. They are aggressive towards their own species, so they should be kept alone or as a pair unless a huge tank is provided. They will eat small fish.
