Feed a vegetable based diet. Foods with large amounts of protein can cause bloat.
Breeding
They are maternal mouthbrooders. 6-10 female fish should be kept per male because two males will be extremely aggressive towards each other. The female will carry the brood of 5-15 eggs for up to 30 days before releasing free-swimming fry. The fry can then be fed baby brine shrimp.

They should be kept in groups of at least 15-20 fish, as they will fight in smaller groups.
