They are carnivorous. They will accept cichlid pellets and live/frozen foods such as silversides, shrimp and krill.
Breeding
They are substrate spawners. The female will lay over 1000 eggs which will hatch in five days. Both parents care for the young.

They will eat any smaller fish. They are best kept alone, but they can be kept in a pair if you have a very large tank.
