    Inline heaters vs internal heaters

I have decided that I will probably be using a single internal heater, as opposed to two inline heaters. I do not want to sacrifice filtration power just so I can use inline heaters, and all the inline heaters I looked at had fittings smaller than the tubing of the canister filters I am...

    Canister filters for 180 gallon

Not the biggest fan of SunSun canister filters, I've had them before and they didn't seem to be built all that well, but I'll take another look at those.

    Canister filters for 180 gallon

Cool, but the tank is drilled with two overflows, so I need two canister filters since I don't want a sump.

    Canister filters for 180 gallon

Like I said, I need two canisters, and two FX6s would be overkill, and too expensive.

    Canister filters for 180 gallon

I need two canister filters for my 180 gallon, since it is drilled with two overflows, and I need a canister for each overflow. I have been leaning towards getting two Eheim 2217s, but I'm a bit worried they won't be powerful enough. Each canister is rated to 159 gallons, but I heard that two...

    Inline heaters vs internal heaters

I will hopefully be setting up my 180 gallon tank soon, but I'm going to be setting it up in the furnace room, which isn't heated. I initially estimated a 30 degree Fahrenheit difference between the room temperature and the desired tank temperature, and according to the calculation based on...

    Hanna Instruments checkers

I'm not sure, but I probably should test my tanks more often, I'm lazy.

    Hanna Instruments checkers

I will be setting up my 180 gallon tank hopefully soon, and I was thinking about implementing an electronic aquarium controller/monitoring system to keep an eye on temp, pH, and NH3, but they are kind of overpriced IMO, and building one myself would take more effort than what it would take to...

    Ph wild on cycling tank

Add some baking soda and try to raise the KH to around 100-200 PPM

    Hanna Instruments checkers

I ordered the Low Range checker which only goes up to 3 PPM, maybe I should have ordered the medium range one, but the low range one is more accurate at the low range than what a medium range one would be, and the main reason to get one is for accuracy IMO.

Have you done a KH test? I'd add some baking soda to raise the KH.

    Betta died

I'm not sure, I still have to do water tests, but my guess would be that the fish was sick with something when I got it.

    Betta died

No, I've had a lot of bettas, I have another 10 gallon tank with another betta on the same stand as the 10 gallon that I recently set up, it's a double metal stand, and the other tank is on the top, while the 10 gallon tank that the betta that died was in was on the lower level of the stand. I...

The only thing that I don't like about sponge filters are that when the sponges get dirty, it can sometimes be hard to clean them without killing the nitrifying bacteria, but I usually just squeeze them in a bowl of conditioned water.

Unfortunately the betta died :( I didn't really have any decorations in the tank, just the sand.

    Betta died

The betta that I recently got for my new 10 gallon tank died, I noticed that he was laying on his side last night, and he was dead today :(. I am not sure what caused him to die, but it seemed like he was acting fine the day before yesterday. I worry that he might have had fish tuberculosis...

    Hanna Instruments checkers

Has anyone here used Hanna Instruments Checkers? I ordered one for Ammonia. With chemical test kits, you don't get an exact number result, you have to compare the color of the test with the card, but that isn't always completley accurate, so with the Hanna Instruments checker, you put the...

    Lower 10 gallon Betta tank

I have two 10 gallon betta tanks on a Titan Eze double metal stand. This one is on the bottom. I am using pool filter sand for the substrate.
