Downstairs top 40 gallon tank

General Information

I have two 40 gallon tanks set up in the basement, and two more upstairs, and they are both on double metal stands, and this is the one on the top of the stand in the basement. I am using Black Diamond blasting sand as the substrate. I also have one terra cotta pot in the tank that acts as a hiding spot for the Flowehorn.

Beautiful Flowerhorn. Sponge filters are new to me and I quite like them now, especially when it comes to cycling other tanks.

The only thing that I don't like about sponge filters are that when the sponges get dirty, it can sometimes be hard to clean them without killing the nitrifying bacteria, but I usually just squeeze them in a bowl of conditioned water.
