When I resealed my 20 gallon tank a few years ago, I didn't use masking tape and the silicone comes over about an inch on each seal. I am planning on using masking tape when I reseal my 75 gallon. If you have ever resealed an aquarium, did you use masking tape or not?

So is there any other benefit to using masking tape than just a cleaner looking silicone application? @Anders247 @catsma_97504

None. I sealed my 125 without masking tape. It simply gives a straight edge and a guideline when working with the silicone.

I used masking tape on my 75 and when I peeled it off, it pulled up a little bit of the silicone edges. Will it be OK?

EDIT: the silicone has mostly dried, and it looks fine.

I haven't put water in it, I need to build the stand.
