I didnt see anything here on this topic so i thought i would just throw it in :)

A quarantine tank is one of the most useful tools any fishkeeper can own.

I have always kept one on the shelf for any new arrival no matter where it came from.

Most times fishes you get at the local pet shop have only been there for a day or two and havent had time to develop the symptoms of who knows what horrible disease, so keeping that new arrival in a QT can mean the difference between a simple treatment in isolation, versus the loss or at least infection of your entire show tank.

The cost is minimal, but the rewards can be priceless.
