Once I move, I'm thinking about building a sump out of a stock tank to filter the tank or pond that I will be breeding cichlids in. Has anyone built a sump using a stock tank? Is it a good idea? What are some of the pros and cons of using a stock tank vs a traditional glass aquarium?

Stock tanks are cheaper, and that's the only pro.

To use a sump on on a stock tank, you have to build a stand for it as the tank has to be elevated.

I'm talking about building the sum itself out of a stock tank.

It would be a lot of work, but I don't see any issues.
